Hannah and Ava have been friends since the womb. Olivia and Alyssa are soo similiar, we sometimes refer to them as twins. We love them!

Tea for Two

Hannah loves having tea. At least once a week we have tea. We had tea with Pappy. At our neighbor's yard sale last weekend, she found more cups and saucers. And now Hannah is planning on having her friends over for tea. And since we have enough for 17 people to have tea, let's invite 17! She had daddy help her write an email invitation, leaving out the date until they could review the family calendar.

The Schepels Annual So CA Visit...

included an overnight in Arcadia. We hung out and had dinner and a movie and then we were off to Disneyland the next day. Caden and Holden are each a year older than Hannah and Alyssa. The foursome got along really well.

Fare Thee Well

Our dear Saturn had to leave our family. After a rear end accident it was deemed unrepairable. "Daddy's" car was taken away today. The was a slight pang in my heart as it was my first new car, but it was no longer my car of preference. There was no air conditioning, it was loud and the radio wasn't working well. It was reliable though and would have been with us longer if the unforeseen had not happened. And as this chapter ends, we welcome our new addition, a Honda Civic Hybrid.

(Alyssa look like she's saluting!)

Happy President's Day!

We made portraits of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln today.  Alyssa's George Washington is really "his wife."

May the Force Be With You....

After catching daddy watching Battle Star Gallactica a few times and often asking to watch "the movie you watch when you were a little boy", Ryan finally dug through all his boxes Sunday night and pulled out Star Wars to watch with the girls.  Thinking that they didn't see enough of Battle Start Gallactica to really know what it was and having been looking forward to sharing the Start Wars experience with them, he was sure that they wouldn't know the difference.  Hunkered down in front of the tv all snug with their pillows, Ryan read the opening paragraphs in his best dramatic voice.

Hannah, "Who's that shiny guy?... (C3PO)... What's the short guy?... (R2D2)... What are the hooded guys doing?  (Jawas)"

Of the lightsaber, Hannah commented, "I've only seen the fake ones, the real ones are really sharp, right?"

Hannah spent much of the movies with her fingers in her ears and was a bit afraid.  Alyssa wasn't phased too much.  They both enjoyed it... they'll watch anything that's on tv... but when it was all said and done, they both were disappointed that it wasn't the movie that daddy had watched when he was a little boy.  They weren't fooled... it most certainly wasn't the show they had seen daddy watching!

Pappy Visits in February

Shortly after Christmas, the girls extended the invitation to Pappy to join them at the Father Daughter Dance held at our former church in Malibu. The girls were thrilled when he accepted and they waited patiently for the dance to come. Everyone who offered a listening ear heard about Pappy's upcoming visit. They were so excited because they love their Pappy so and they don't get to see him very often. We had a wonderful visit and were very sad to say good-bye today. Thank you to Gramma Kate for letting him come for the weekend. We missed seeing you!

Happy Valentines Day!

We began our Valentines Day celebrations on Thursday February 2nd with our Home School Park group.  The girls made 43 valentines.  Hannah made prints by "engraving" a design onto styrofoam from a meat tray.  Alyssa painted on a freezer baggie, wiping it clean before making a new design.

Then came the sugar cookies for Alyssa's preschool class.  Hannah helped make the dough, Alyssa rolled it and used heart shaped cutters.

Pappy helped Alyssa make home made play dough using beet juice to make a pink color.  Then we rolled out the dough and used the heart shaped cutters for valentines for her preschool class (we got this from a valentine given to us from our home school group party!).

Pappy was able to help Alyssa with her dough project because he came out here for the annual Father/Daughter dance that they go to with daddy.  This date night tops every Valentines Day activity every year.Click here for more pictures

Disneyland with Daniella

Not only did we get to celebrate Daniella's birthday with her at Disneyland, but we got to see the princesses too!  And it was also Alyssa's first time getting her annual pass.  She was so excited about it and for the longest time, wouldn't let it out of her sight.  She refused to let anyone else hold it for her and would often take it out of her pocket, as if checking to make sure it was still there!
